Hobbs’s latest smear against Andy Biggs “omits key facts”
GILBERT, AZ— Katie Hobbs’s campaign was caught misleading Arizonans in their latest smear against Andy Biggs as voters begin casting their ballots with three weeks until Election Day.
Chief Correspondent Howie Fischer of Capitol Media Services writes that the latest attack from Hobbs’s campaign “omits key facts” around a 2012 bill opposed by then State Senator Andy Biggs. According to Fischer:
“But what neither the media outlet nor Beyer mentions is that Biggs voted against the 2012 bill after citing a last-minute amendment that actually weakened the measure.”
The bill to crack down on sex offenders receiving some types of occupational licenses was weakened by a last-second amendment that created a loophole for offenders who hadn’t registered in the past 10 years.
Biggs noted at the time in a floor speech that the amendment would weaken the bill and voted no, but that context was maliciously left out of the Hobbs campaign’s attack as it was filtered through a website connected to a pro-Democrat Party organization. Fischer wrote:
“The neutrality of American Journal News can be called into question. A prime investor is the American Bridge 21st Century Foundation. And that is the nonprofit sister of American Bridge 21st Century, which lists itself as “the largest research, tracking, and rapid response operation in the Democratic Party.”
Andy Biggs has a long track record of protecting women and children in his time as a prosecutor and through his decades of service in elected office. Biggs worked directly with Senator John McCain to pass the Ashlynne Mike Amber Alert in Indian Country Act into law and most recently passed his CSAFE Act through the House of Representatives to crack down on predators.
