Katie Hobbs’s Alleged Pay-to-Play Scheme

August 21, 2026
Press Release

Democrat AG “clears” Democrat Governor, calls for legislative reforms despite Hobbs already having vetoed multiple transparency bills.

GILBERT, AZ—Republican nominee for Arizona Governor Andy Biggs released the following statement regarding Democrat Kris Mayes’s investigation of Democrat Katie Hobbs over an alleged pay-to-play scheme:

“With today’s report whitewashing obvious corruption, Arizonans can see why Democrat Katie Hobbs thinks she’s above the law.

Hobbs never sat down for an interview with Kris Mayes and she vetoed multiple pieces of legislation that would have addressed the clear signs of impropriety at play regarding political donations and state contracts.

Now, after two years of investigating a pay-to-play scheme that uncovered even more suspicious six-figure political contributions from Sunshine Residential to Hobbs, Kris Mayes has shrugged her shoulders and told Arizonans to get over it.

Our campaign put out a clear Ethics and Transparency Platform months ago that shows exactly how I will address this type of corruption as Governor and bring back integrity to the 9th Floor by signing transparency bills into law.

The best way for Arizonans to now push back against this embarrassment is clear: voting Katie Hobbs and Kris Mayes out of office in November.”

Biggs additionally posted a video on X highlighting the ridiculousness of Kris Mayes calling for legislative reforms after Katie Hobbs had vetoed multiple transparency bills.
