Coverage comes in for Biggs’ Ethics Proposal while Hobbs remains under criminal investigation
GILBERT, AZ— A criminal investigation continues to hurt Katie Hobbs’ re-election prospects as local media coverage ramped up after Andy Biggs released his Ethics & Transparency Platform as part of his campaign for Governor of Arizona.
Hobbs is under investigation after her administration allegedly took part in a pay-to-play scheme where a six-figure political donor to Hobbs and Democrat committees received a $4M taxpayer-funded raise after the request had previously been denied.
Biggs, the frontrunner for the Arizona Republican gubernatorial nomination, introduced five planks in his platform to protect taxpayers, crack down on corruption, and stop foreign dollars from influencing Arizona’s elections.
The platform includes commitments on:
- No shadowy Inauguration slush fund
- Signing a vendor transparency bill for political donations made by state contractors
- Increased disclosure of the State Protocol Fund and its donors
- Banning foreign donations in Arizona’s elections
- Signing a bill to increase initiative signature collector transparency
State Senator T.J. Shope, whose transparency bill was vetoed by Katie Hobbs, applauded Biggs’ platform:
Local media highlighted Biggs’ platform as well, describing transparency for Hobbs as “…an issue that has plagued her administration throughout her first term…”:
