With two vetoes of a $1.1 billion tax cut and bottom-five wage growth,
re-election looking bleaker and bleaker for Hobbs
GILBERT, AZ—Two months after her State of the State Address, Katie Hobbs is continuing to flail after twice vetoing a $1.1 billion tax cut as reports show Arizona in the bottom-five of states for wage growth in January. Hobbs has nothing to show Arizonans on affordability after claiming it was a priority of hers, instead spending time doing cable news hits looking backwards while her fellow statewide Democrats campaign together without her.
“While Congressman Andy Biggs unites the Republican Party and campaigns across the state with a positive vision of Restoring the American Dream in Arizona, Katie Hobbs is stuck in neutral with nothing good to show Arizonans,” said Drew Sexton, Senior Advisor to the Biggs for Arizona campaign. “Hobbs vetoed a $1.1 billion tax cut for the second time in February, continuing to keep Arizonans in limbo during tax filing season while our state’s wage growth hits new lows. It’s no wonder Kris Mayes and Adrian Fontes are campaigning without her; nobody wants to be seen with Katie Hobbs as she continues to flail in 2026.”
Katie Hobbs’ terrible start to 2026 includes the lowlights below:
- A report shows Arizona is in the bottom-five of all states for wage growth in January 2026.
- Hobbs vetoed a $1.1 billion tax cut for a second time, keeping Arizonans in limbo during tax filing season.
- Democrats Kris Mayes and Adrian Fontes hit the campaign trail together last weekend while Katie Hobbs was left to hit the links.
- Hobbs put partisanship over statesmanship with the veto of a license plate memorializing the late, great Charlie Kirk, who built a business and raised a family in Arizona.
- A disastrous interview with 12News where she confirmed she remains under investigation for an alleged pay-to-play scheme, where a six-figure political donor of hers received a $4 million pay increase in taxpayer funds.
- Arizona House Republicans hired a third-party firm to gather more details on the allegations of a pay-to-play scheme orchestrated by Katie Hobbs and Sunshine Residential Homes.
- Local media outlet KTAR described her State of the State address as “a big miss”.
- National finance company WalletHub ranks Arizona as the 3rd worst state in the country for affordability.
- Katie Hobbs’ own Department of Revenue contradicted her remarks on if Arizonans should move forward with their tax filings, causing chaos and confusion for Arizona families and small businesses.
- Hobbs waited nearly a week to respond to Attorney General Kris Mayes’ inflammatory and horrifying remarks over shooting ICE officers, which drew condemnation from Arizona sheriffs and police groups.
