Yuma representative commends Biggs’ work on water and vision for lowering taxes and costs on businesses
GILBERT, AZ—Arizona State Representative Michele Peña endorsed Congressman Andy Biggs for Governor, giving the former Arizona State Senate President his 42nd endorsement from a current or former Arizona State Legislator. Peña, who represents parts of Yuma, Maricopa, and Pima Counties, commended Biggs’ focus on lowering taxes and costs for Arizonans, fighting for Arizona’s water rights, and his experience working in the State Legislature.
“Yuma has seen Congressman Biggs visit our community frequently and talk directly about the issues most important to our voters, from defending our water rights to lowering costs for businesses and families,” said Representative Peña. “Andy knows how to work well with the Legislature and get things done for Arizonans, putting people ahead of the usual partisan politics. He will be a great leader for Yuma and all of Arizona.”
With State Representative Peña’s endorsement, the Biggs for Arizona campaign now holds public endorsements from 42 current or former Arizona state legislators. Peña is the 5th Hispanic elected official in Arizona to endorse Biggs, joining State Senator T.J. Shope, State Representatives Teresa Martinez and Chris Lopez, and Avondale City Councilwoman Jeannette Garcia.
A recent poll showed Biggs winning the GOP gubernatorial primary by 42 points as he posted his largest fundraising quarter of the cycle while holding $1.1M cash on hand going into April.
“Representative Peña has been a strong advocate for her constituents, earning important victories at the Legislature as well as winning tough campaigns,” said Congressman Biggs. “Yuma County plays a major part in the success of our state, from its massive agriculture industry to its critical position on border security. I’m looking forward to spending more time in Yuma and sharing an optimistic vision for our state that keeps its residents safe and empowers businesses to thrive.”
