Local coverage notes Biggs’s messaging on affordability while hitting Katie Hobbs for skipping out on debate
GILBERT, AZ— Republican nominee for Governor of Arizona Andy Biggs focused on affordability, water security, and protecting school choice as he made a strong case against absent Democrat Katie Hobbs in last night’s Arizona Citizens Clean Elections Commission Debate.
Biggs outlined plans on gradually eliminating the state income tax to put more money in the pockets of Arizonans, investing in more water infrastructure, and vigorously defending the state’s school choice programs to provide more options for underserved communities across the state.
He also highlighted his legislative work with Senator John McCain on the Ashlynne Mike Amber Alert in Indian Country Act to protect children in Arizona, as well as working across the aisle to pass Right to Try legislation into law.
“My opponent, Katie Hobbs, isn’t here to debate and won’t show up because she can’t defend her record,” said Biggs in his closing statement. “My plan is to make Arizona more affordable again, to secure our water supply, and make sure that we support school choice. The bottom line is that we’ll restore the American Dream to Arizona and that’s why I ask for your vote.”

ABC15- Andy Biggs, Teri Hourihan Spar on Debate Stage at Governor’s Debate: “He has sponsored a bill in Congress for Colorado River infrastructure and to develop new sources of water for the river system. “The bill I introduced in Congress is designed to actually save the entire Colorado River Basin,” he said. The Colorado River has been depleted by decades of drought and overuse. “But what people forget, and when they talk about it and they start panicking, they forget that Arizona has massive and copious amounts of underground water storage,” Biggs said.
Treating and distributing that brackish water would support up to 15 million people for 250 years, he said. “What we have to do is, we have to actually have some pumps to get some of that water out,” Biggs said.”
