Andy Biggs Shines in Governor’s Debate, Katie Hobbs Shamefully Skips Out on Voters

Press Release

New story shows Arizona voters want candidates in debates as Biggs makes case directly to Arizonans

GILBERT, AZ— Republican nominee for Governor of Arizona Andy Biggs shined in tonight’s Arizona Citizens Clean Elections Commission Debate, making his case directly to voters that he and his running mate Sine Kerr will put more money in the pockets of Arizonans and restore the American Dream in the state. The debate stage was noticeably missing Democrat Katie Hobbs, who shamefully skipped out on voters and has now gone more than 8 years without participating in a debate. She is the first major party gubernatorial nominee in Arizona to skip debating in the general election since 1954.

Biggs made a strong case for putting more money in the pockets of Arizonans, rooting out waste in state government programs like Medicaid, and vigorously defending the state’s school choice and ESA programs with a proposal to expand school choice in underserved and rural communities.

He also highlighted his legislative work with Senator John McCain on the Ashlynne Mike Amber Alert in Indian Country Act to protect children in Arizona, as well as working across the aisle to pass Right to Try legislation into law.

“My opponent, Katie Hobbs, isn’t here to debate and won’t show up because she can’t defend her record,” said Biggs in his closing statement. “My plan is to make Arizona more affordable again, to secure our water supply, and make sure that we support school choice. The bottom line is that we’ll restore the American Dream to Arizona and that’s why I ask for your vote.”
